In the new study, the authors found that among more than 94,000 Taiwan
(China) adults who have a history of kidney stones diagnosed with
diabetes are more than 30% within 5 years compared with those no kidney
stones.
Of the more than 23,000 who are not being treated for kidney stones,
diabetes 12.4%, based on medical records, compared with 9.6% among
70,700 adults without diabetes were studied for comparison.
Diabetes and kidney stones have a similar risk factors - including obesity and older.
However, even when researchers take into account age, obesity and other
risk factors for other health related kidney stones with increased risk
of diabetes by 30%.
