A biotech company of Canada has made a revolution in the treatment of diabetes - insulin made from safflower seeds.
The company said SemBioSys Genetics has succeeded in making insulin from safflower seeds (Carthamus) GM. This allows the insulin manufactured at a lower price than the current method of using bacteria fermented. The company expects SemBioSys perform clinical trials next year.
Body diabetes can not produce enough insulin or the inability to use insulin is created. Your body needs insulin to turn the sugar in food into energy. There are three types of diabetes:
- Type 1 diabetes by gene: Body produce little or no insulin production.
- Diabetes type 2 is mainly due to bad lifestyle habits lead to obesity: body produce insulin but can not use.
- Gestational diabetes: The body can not use insulin during pregnancy. This disease disappears after the baby is born.
